Goodbye Russia

We are just about to board the plane!!! Goodbye Russia :(

Departure Lounge

We are currently going through passport control at St Petersburg airport hoping to board the plane soon.

Palaces and Snowball fights!

Our last visit of our trip was a walk around St Catherine's park to see the summer residence of the early Romanovs. After observing the palace, we got carried away in the snow and had a massive snow ball fight where both Mr Dickens and Miss Mcdougall ended up face first in the snow after a fight with Billy - it was hilarious!

Alexander Palace

Next we headed to Tsar Nicholas' summer palace, The Tsar and his family had many happy memories at this place which they preferred to the Winter Palace in the centre of the city. After his abdication, this is where the Nicholas lived under house arrest before he and his family were assassinated by the Bolsheviks. Rasputin was also initially buried here although his remains were later removed.

Walking on the River Neva

Whilst there we stood on the frozen Neva river.

Peter and Paul Cathedral

Within the Peter and Paul Fortress we visited its cathedral, here the Romonov family are buried along with other previous emperors like Peter the Great - the founder of the city.
